Making a Lasting Difference

The Real Estate Foundation of BC aims to make a difference in the way people think about and approach land use and sustainability. The land use visioning project in Clayoquot Sound aligns strongly with our goal and vision for a healthy environment that supports thriving, resilient, livable communities across BC. We appreciate Nature United’s highly inclusive and respectful approach to supporting locally-led land use visions.

We’re happy to provide multi-year funding to this project and believe that our longer-term investment will help support lasting results. We know that relationship-building is fundamental to this work. And we know that takes time. We recognize how important continuity and flexibility are to the success of complex projects like Clayoquot Sound. We believe we need to invest in partnerships to catalyze change on the ground.

The Power of People

Members of our team have been fortunate to have the opportunity to see the important work in Clayoquot Sound first-hand — and it is truly amazing. For me, one of the highlights was meeting with local leaders and spending time with the Indigenous Guardians who play an active role in stewarding the lands and waters in their territories. It was so powerful to walk through the stunning forests and beaches and learn from the people who have cared for these places for generations.

The Clayoquot Sound project is an inspiring initiative on so many fronts, including its focus on Indigenous-led land use planning, its scalability, and alignment with Canada’s biodiversity and conservation protection targets. It is a powerful landscape. And we deeply value the fact that this work is being undertaken at the invitation of the area’s Indigenous peoples who lead its future.

Our Partnership with Nature United

We value our partnership with Nature United, which has strong capacity and expertise in conservation and sustainable economic development. You also foster collaboration across governments, industry and NGOs. Moreover, your organization is very well-regarded by its partners. It’s a unique equation that we are very proud to be part of.
