Quote

I was born and raised in Maui. Growing up on an island shaped by both the Hawaiian 'ahupuaa' system of land management and colonization, I learned about the incredible impact humans can have on landscapes.

Biography

Sierra joined Nature United in 2021. As a donor communications officer, she develops materials that inspire donors and highlight how we reimagine conservation, uniting behind Indigenous-led conservation to achieve long-term results.

Before joining Nature United, she worked in non-profit fundraising at a local land trust, learning that compelling stories and strong relationships are at the heart of land protection. She also worked in higher education, helping raise unrestricted dollars for a women's college. She has a bachelor’s in English from Western Washington University and a masters of fine arts in poetry from the University of Montana.

Sierra is also a volunteer for The Indo Project, a non-profit dedicated to preserving Dutch Indonesian history and culture. On the weekends, she loves taking her dog to the beach, camping, reading mystery novels, and gardening.
