Biography

Mariana Luna is the Conservation Operations Specialist at Nature United, supporting the implementation of the Capacity Support for Indigenous Stewardship Strategy and the Northern Strategy. She joined Nature United in 2025 and works to strengthen operational systems that enable Indigenous-led conservation.

Prior to joining Nature United, Mariana worked with the BC Parks Foundation in a range of roles that spanned project coordination, executive and board support and implementation of a major grant initiative. She holds a Bachelor of Tourism Management and has completed the Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCA) Planning Advanced Certificate from Vancouver Island University.

Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Mariana has spent most of her life on the unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and səlilwətaɬ Nations, and now lives in Quw’utsun territory on Vancouver Island. Outside of work, she enjoys climbing, camping and spending time with her puppy.
