Biography

Kelly McCarthy joined Nature United in 2024 to provide strategic communications support to the Indigenous partners who are leading the Great Bear Sea initiative.

Kelly began her career as a journalist working for publications like the Ottawa Citizen and Toronto Star, where she developed a passion for telling compelling stories. This storytelling lens has followed her through her career in communications, working for national industry associations like Fertilizer Canada and the Fisheries Council of Canada to improve public trust. Her work in the Canadian fisheries industry provides a depth of knowledge of marine conservation and Indigenous reconciliation.

Kelly lives in the Ottawa Valley but has spent significant time exploring Canada’s natural beauty in every province, working on her goal to visit every national park and Ontario Provincial Park.
