Alexandra Conliffe is the Chief Executive Officer of the McCall MacBain Foundation, a role she assumed in 2024. Her transition to the role followed five years at the Foundation in Director and Vice President roles, during which she led philanthropic giving across the Foundation’s three areas of focus – education & scholarships, climate change & environment and health. Previously, she has specialized for more than a decade in building and implementing programs and public policy in the non-profit and public sectors, with a focus on environment and global development. Her contributions range from her role as Canada’s agriculture negotiator at the United Nations Climate Change negotiations while a Senior Policy Analyst at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to studying the impacts of environmental and climate change on rural livelihoods in Uzbekistan through her doctoral research. Prior to joining the Foundation, Alex was Director of Policy Innovation at the Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship and VP Operations at Engineers Without Borders Canada. She holds a PhD in Geography and an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford, where she studied as a Rhodes Scholar. Alex obtained a BEng from McGill University, where she studied as a Loran Scholar. She is a member of the McGill Engineering Faculty Advancement Board.
