Quote

There’s so much hope in working in philanthropy that comes with imagining the solutions that might be possible when resources and talent are applied to the world’s most pressing challenges.

Biography

Since starting at Nature United in 2017, Alana has built relationships with supporters to raise funds for Nature United’s priorities. Before becoming the Philanthropy Director and overseeing all of Nature United's fundraising activities, including a capital campaign, she was the Major Gifts Director. In this role she worked directly with a small number of donors across Canada and the U.S. to create connections between their philanthropic goals and our work.

Alana has been working as a fundraising professional for over 15 years. She was part of the team that raised $35 million towards the renewal and expansion of Science World British Columbia in Vancouver, and developed the framework and strategies for a £400 million capital campaign to develop a new integrated eye care treatment, research, and education centre for Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, U.K.

She has a bachelor’s degree in English literature and history from Queen’s University, a post-graduate certificate in fundraising and volunteer management from Humber College and she earned her Certified Fundraising Executive accreditation in 2016.

She is enthusiastic about sharing the natural beauty of the West Coast with her family and spends her time combing beaches or hiking in the forests with them on weekends.
